Partner | Cataluña, Barcelona and Girona
Ian joined Blevins Franks in July 2015, bringing 30 years’ experience in financial services. Specialising in tax efficient investments, Ian was formerly editor of the independent research publication, the Tax Shelter Report. He also wrote a number of articles on tax-efficient investing for the UK press, including the Financial Times, the Sunday Times and the weekend Telegraph.
With a B.Sc in economics from the London School of Economics, Ian also holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and is a member of the Personal Finance Society.
Ian supports clients throughout Cataluña. Based in the Blevins Franks office in Girona, he also visits clients locally and at convenient meeting rooms in Barcelona and Figueres.
Ian has in-depth knowledge of the complex Spanish tax regime in Catalunya, how it interacts with UK laws and how this affects British expatriates moving to this region in Spain. He is supported by a team of in-house experts, including tax advisers, lawyers and accountants based in our London and Malta offices.
Originally moving to Catalunya to be close to his seven-year-old daughter – who lives locally with her Catalan mother – Ian lives in Vilassar de Mar, near Barcelona.
Away from work, he enjoys making the most of the good food and wine available in this part of Spain. He also enjoys skiing and hiking, but settles for watching football when feeling less energetic.
